VIA Dance Collaborative: The Dream Project

From September 25-27 at 8 PM, VIA Dance Collaborative will present The Dream Project/Lullaby in Surrealism at the Ailey Citigroup Theater. The evening-length work is an expansion of choreographer/VIA Artistic Facilitator Adrienne Westwood’s earlier trilogy of dances, and explores “the strange, beautiful, and sometimes disquieting nature of our dreams”. According to VIA’s Dream Project blog, the piece is a collaborative effort that explores how one’s dreams can inspire the creative process and connect to our daily lives. VIA invites the public to comment on its posts, photos, and rehearsal videos, and best of all, you can take a Dream Survey. The dancers compiled questions based on ideas they discussed in rehearsal and turned them into an online assessment about dreams. It’s a thought-provoking exercise that allows you to learn a little about your own dreams while contributing to VIA’s intriguing project.
